Consigning FAQ
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR CONSIGNMENT?
Appointments are booked on our Consign->Appointments page. All appointments are booked 1 month in advance. These open on the 1st of each month at 8 AM. The month often books completely within an hour. We only allow 1 appointment per consignor per season and reserve the right to cancel extra appointments.
DO YOU HAVE WALK-IN CONSIGNMENT TIMES or DAYS?
Unfortunately, we do not. Even if you only have a small number of items, please make an appointment.
HOW MANY ITEMS MAY I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
You are welcome to bring up to 20 items at your appointment. This includes shoes, jewelry and purses.
WHAT IS YOUR SEASON SCHEDULE?
We take only IN-SEASON items at your appointment, we have no storage space for off-season items.
SPRING: March & April
SUMMER: May, June & July
FALL: September & October
WINTER: November, December & January
NO CONSIGNMENT: February & August
WHAT PERCENTAGE DO I EARN? WHAT IS YOUR SPLIT?
Consignors earn 40% of the actual selling price of each item, after markdowns, sale discounts, coupons and any other fees are accounted for. The shop earns 60%. Checks must be requested, they are not sent automatically.
HOW DO YOU PRICE MY ITEMS?
We usually price our consigned items at approximately 1/4 - 1/3 of their original retail price, but sometimes adjust for desirability, and condition. Your appointment is your chance to tell us all about the items.
HOW LONG IS THE CONSIGNMENT PERIOD?
Our consignment period is 2 months (8 weeks), beginning when your items are entered into our inventory system. You will be emailed an itemized list of items, prices and your "Pick Up" date.
HOW DO I GET MY CHECK?
Your earnings are payable at the end of the consignment period, upon request. You can phone, email, or submit a Check Request from the Consign menu. Although you may also walk in, we may not be able to write the check on the spot. You have 6 months after the end of your consignment to collect or spend your earnings.
ARE THERE ITEMS YOU DON'T ACCEPT? DO YOU ACCEPT FUR COATS OR SWIMWEAR?
We do not accept: Fur coats, Wedding Gowns, swimwear, lingere, sleepwear or maternity wear. These items have not proven to sell well with us.
ARE THERE BRANDS YOU DON'T ACCEPT?
Yes. As cute as they are, inexpensive brands of clothing just don't hold much value the second time around. Brands from stores such as: Old Navy, H&M, Primark, Shein, Forever 21 and Target are examples of items to put in the "Donate" pile rather than the "Consign" pile. SHOULD I BRING MY ITEMS ON HANGERS OR FOLDED?
Hangers work best for most items, but are not required. Please do not bring your items in a suitcase.
It is up to you to prepare your items so that they are ready for a new owner to wear. They must be without odor or stains, and in perfect repair. We do not provide de-linting, steaming or tailoring services, and will turn away items that require attention. We also will immediately remove from the sales floor and donate any item found to be stained or in disrepair during the consignment period.
AM I ABLE TO RETRIEVE ITEMS THAT DON'T SELL?
Yes, you are welcome to retrieve any unsold items within 7 days after the end of your consignment. Items not retrieved 7 days after your Pick Up date become the property of the shop. Please plan to spend a few minutes finding your items on the racks as we do not automatically pull your items.
MAY I RETRIEVE MY ITEMS BEFORE THE END OF THE CONSIGNMENT?
Retrieval prior to the final week of the 2 month consignment may result in a per-item Early Retrieval fee. If you are not comfortable selling your items at discounted prices, we would rather you didn't consign them. Consigning items that you are also currently listing on-line for sale is not allowed.
DO YOU DONATE UNSOLD ITEMS TO CHARITY?
Yes, we are pleased to support several local charities to put unsold items to good use and fill local needs. We cannot provide you with donation receipts, however.
WHICH ITEMS SELL BEST AT REFLECTIONS?
Our customers are quite varied, but they all enjoy finding great quality merchandise at deep discounts. The items that fly out the door here are unique and artistic, or classic and hard to find. We accept plenty of items that are contemporary casual, cute and oh-so-wearable! Please see our lists of Brands we LOVE and Brands we Don't Accept on our Consign menu.
DO YOU BUY OUTRIGHT?
No, We do not purchase items outright. We pay consignors after their items sell.
I AM MOVING, CAN YOU TAKE ALL MY ITEMS AT ONCE?
We do not have storage and cannot handle a large volume from one consignor, or multiple seasons of items. We can work with you to help decide which items to consign and make a plan. Please phone us!
